Seeing Science in a whole new light

Immersing visitors in the Science Oasis Museum

The Brief

We were commissioned to build a set of films and interactive assets as part of the immersive and audio-visual landscape of the Science Oasis Museum. We were asked to focus on two areas, ‘Biotechnology’ and ‘The Future of Technology’.

Biotechnology

/ THE FILM

Inspired by the beauty of molecular structures we created a mesmerizing animation of particles flowing across a super widescreen film in the Biotechnology Zone. Enhanced by infinity mirrors and DNA double-helices made from LED strands. Taking the audience on a breathtaking journey from the dawn of life to the infinite possibilities of biotechnology.

DNA carries our past and holds countless answers to our future. It connects us to every living creature on Earth.

Future of Technology

/ THE FILM

Here we had two challenges; showcasing technology that didn’t exist yet, and producing work for a 4m sq holographic projection cube. We created a stylized, imagined piece to show what the future could look like across Nanotechnology, Energy, Medicine & Ageing, Transport & communications.

We tackled the cube by treating the facets as two wide screens where the front facets hold the 3D film and the UI elements are projected onto the rear, giving an exciting 3D hologram look. Exciting the younger audience about what the future could be.

Technology has the power to transform our world in profound ways from the nanoscopic to the planetary level. If anything the boundaries of what is possible is not limited by technology, but more by our imaginations and collective will.

Future Starts Here

/ THE INTERACTIVE WALL

Finally, toward the end of the experience, we worked with Kiss the Frog to design and direct an interface for an interactive questionnaire about visitors’ opinions on the future of technology.
